Winter Solstice Cowl

Sweet Memories Cowl in DK

You may be getting tired of hearing about how much I adore Intrepid Tulips Wool/Silk DK, but I am not tired of telling you about it.  This colorway is “Winter Solstice” and it is a gorgeous blend of grays and purples.  I was rifling through one of Sarah’s yarn bins recently and knew I had to get a skein of this.  As I held it up, my daughter saw it and grabbed it out of my hands.  “Mine!”  She is very decided in her opinions for one so young.

So, we compromised: I would knit her a scarf out of it.  She picked the pattern and it turned out perfectly.  How often does that happen with knitting?  (I must admit to swatching four or five other stitch patterns before we decided on this one, so perfection came with a price.)  The pretty pattern is Sweet Memories Cowl by Jacinta (a free pattern)  I only did two repeats on size 7 needles, since it was for a child.  It took half a skein, so I knit her a basic garter stitch square out of the rest of it, which she assures me has many uses.  I love this yarn and this colorway is beautiful.
