  • Cashmere Linen-Stitch Cowl

Cashmere adds just the right touch to Intrepid Tulips Cashmere Sock base to make a lovely, soft fabric.  This cowl was knit in the Reykjavik colorway.  The pattern is a free ravelry download, the Cupido Cowl by Hiroko Fukatsu.  It uses slipped stitches to great effect, adding texture and mixing the colors of the variegated…

    Sunnyside

I started out writing about projects I’ve made with the Intrepid Tulips DK, the Polwarth/Silk blend, but I have made great projects with Sarah’s other yarns as well and today’s project was made with Intrepid Tulips Sock in Wine.  The semi-solid shades of ITY Sock are so gorgeous.  I used one skein to make this darling baby sweater (size 6-12 months…

    Honey Mitts

I had enough yarn leftover from my Kilkenny Cowl to knit up one of my favorite fingerless mitt patterns, Susie Rogers’ Reading Mitts by Susie Rogers, another free Ravelry pattern.  I love the picot edge with the eyelet lace.  The mitts fit my women’s medium-sized hands well and are fun to knit.  Another great pattern match with…

    Kilkenny Cowl

This wool/silk DK project was a custom colorway Sarah named “Honey.” The pattern is the Kilkenny Cowl by Pam Allen and it was a perfect matching of yarn base and design. The subtle variegation gives greater depth to the beautiful lace and cables.  One of my all-time favorite cowls.

  • Ka’ana Shawlette

    Ka’ana Shawlette

This is my favorite project with Intrepid Tulips Wool/Silk dk so far.  I used Lamb’s Ear for the main body of the shawl and Louet Gems Sport in Bluebird for the lace portion (though I could have also used Intrepid Tulips Wool/Silk dk in Sapphire.)  The Ka’ana Shawlette by Jennifer Weissman is another free Ravelry pattern and…

    Houzuki

All of Sarah’s yarns are fantastic, but my favorite base is the wool/silk dk–a 85% Polwarth wool and 15% Tussah silk blend that is squishy and soft with a slight sheen to it.  It has excellent stitch definition and takes dye beautifully.  The best part is the gorgeous colorways Sarah creates with this yarn–usually tonal, but she has a few…
