    Winter Solstice Cowl

You may be getting tired of hearing about how much I adore Intrepid Tulips Wool/Silk DK, but I am not tired of telling you about it.  This colorway is “Winter Solstice” and it is a gorgeous blend of grays and purples.  I was rifling through one of Sarah’s yarn bins recently and knew I had to get…

A Smattering of Hand Knit Hats

These three hand knit hats were my own design based off the Houzuki Hat (previously posted here).  I used half a skein each of Intrepid Tulips wool/silk DK in Dark Orchid, a beautiful, rich purple,  Dulce de Leche, a creamy caramel, and Apricot Tart, a lovely peach.  I really love hats that have a band of…

    Kilkenny Cowl

This wool/silk DK project was a custom colorway Sarah named “Honey.” The pattern is the Kilkenny Cowl by Pam Allen and it was a perfect matching of yarn base and design. The subtle variegation gives greater depth to the beautiful lace and cables.  One of my all-time favorite cowls.

    Houzuki

All of Sarah’s yarns are fantastic, but my favorite base is the wool/silk dk–a 85% Polwarth wool and 15% Tussah silk blend that is squishy and soft with a slight sheen to it.  It has excellent stitch definition and takes dye beautifully.  The best part is the gorgeous colorways Sarah creates with this yarn–usually tonal, but she has a few…
